Logging and Bookkeeping (L&B)

Logging and Bookkeeping (LB for short) is a Grid service that keeps a short-term trace of Grid jobs and other grid-related processes as they are processed by individual Grid components. The LB was initially developed in the EU DataGrid project as a part of the Workload Management System (WMS). The development continued in the EGEE project (EGEE-II, EGEE-III respectively), where LB became an independent part of the gLite middleware. Currently we are participating in the EMI project ( see LB status in EMI, gLite Logging and Bookkeeping Product Team).
STS
Security Token Service (STS)

The Security Token Service (STS) is a partial implementation of the OASIS WS-Trust specification. It is a service that can be used for transforming an existing security token into another security token format. Security token, on the other hand, is defined in the WS-Security specifications as a collection of claims that can be attached into a Web Service message.
The metrics portal is the culmination of the work initiated by the MIG (Metrics Implementation Group) and transferred to the Operations Automation Team (OAT) in EGEE-III and now to EGI. The main objective is to have a set of metrics that can help to measure project performance and keep track of its evolution. The portal automatically collects all the required data and calculates these metrics displaying all of them in a single place. The portal agglutinates information from different sources like GOCDB, GGUS, GSTAT, etc. using various connectors depending on the The LCG File catalogue (LFC) offers a hierarchical view of files to users, with a UNIX-like client interface. The LFC catalogue provides: The EGI Accounting Portal is the global graphical front-end to EGI accounting data. Accounting statistics are available through this portal for the analysis of the different grid users, VO administrators an site administrators. This data is analysed to generate statistical summaries that are made available through a web interface. The Disk Pool Manager (DPM) is a lightweight storage solution for grid sites. It offers a simple way to create a disk-based grid storage element and supports both standard (HTTP/S, NFS 4.1/pNFS) and grid specific protocols (SRM, gridFTP, XROOTD, RFIO) for file management and access. GFAL2 is a framework for Grid and Cloud file access, file transfer and file management.
The Grid Information System provides detailed information about grid services. The Grid Information System system has a hierarchical structure of three levels. The fundamental building block used in this hierarchy is the Berkley Database Information Index (BDII). Although the BDII has additional complexity, it can be visualized as an LDAP FTS is the service responsible for distributing the majority of LHC data across the WLCG infrastructure.
It is a low level data movement service, responsible for moving sets of files from one site to another while allowing participating sites to control the network resource usage. This control includes the enforcement of site and usage policies like fair-share mechanisms on dedicated network links.

The GFAL 2.0 library :
The GFAL 2.0 library (gfal2-core) provides a unified and protocol-generic API for file access, file transfer and file management operations in Grid and Cloud environments. GFAL 2.0 allows to build applications using the Grid technologies ( file, GridFTP, RFIO, Dcap, SRM, LFC, Http/Dav, xrootd ) in a transparent manner.
