ScienceSoft becomes SciencePAD

In the past several weeks we have been talking about ScienceSoft and its ideas with more people from many projects, Institutes and research labs. As the discussion progressed, we have started understanding even more the potential of formalizing the information on software products and services and linking it to emerging service platforms, specialized applications and the growing amount of scientific data being produced in many research areas. We have recently started a very promising collaboration with research labs like CERN, one of the world's largest research centers in high-energy physics, EMBL, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory and its EBI branch, the European Bioinformatics Institute, and ILL, the Institute Laue-Langevin, at the forefront of research in Photon and Neutron sciences. We have therefore decided to include the new ideas explicitly in the name of the initiative to stress even more the extended focus on linking Platforms, Applications and Datasets, what we have dubbed PADs. Today ScienceSoft becomes SciencePAD. We invite you to join us or follow us in this endeavour and contribute to the establishment of a new way of supporting excellence in scientific research.
