What is ASGC?

Academia Sinica Grid Computing Centre (ASGC), one of the leading high performance computing and communication centres in Taiwan, builds advanced distributed grid and cloud computing infrastructure to accelerate scientific discovery and international collaborations from various domains and Asia Pacific countries. Since 2005, ASGC became one of the 11 Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) Tier-1 centres (the only Tier-1 centre in Asia) and Asia Pacific Regional Operation Centre (APROC), providing research application integration, coordination and resource federation support to e -Science collaborations worldwide. Since 2010, one of the ASGC research focuses is on the research and development of distributed Cloud computing system, by integrating Cloud technology with the WWG for resource on-demand. It will not only improve the efficiency of the e-Science and service-oriented computing environment, but also further expand the scale of Grid and Cloud applications. More importantly, using mutual beneficial approach in international collaborations, ASGC has been participating in related mainstream projects while introducing and developing the technology needed.
